Sand Worm

Sandworm_for_Kobold_Quarterly_by_MichaelJaecks.jpg

The giant sandworms that live beneath the deserts of Nim-Yola spring up to surprise their prey. It was thought that they had gone extinct during the ice age three thousand years ago, but it turns out that they burrowed deep, closer to the magma, and there entered a sort of torpor. How they knew to do this, and how they knew when it was safe to awaken, remains a mystery to naturalists.
